New host for Auction Room

Former Collectors presenter Gordon Brown will host of Series 2 of Auction Room for ABC1.

ABC has announced a new host for Auction Room.

Gordon Brown, formerly of Collectors will host of Series 2, which will air from early October on ABC1.

He replaces William McInnes whose schedule has made him unavailable for the second season.

The 10 part Tassie-produced series will follow Brown around Australia as he meets people parting with treasured possessions, from an Art Deco lift and vintage car collections to a first-class accommodation floor plan for the Titanic.

Brown is a 32-year veteran of the antiques industry.

“I’m terrifically excited about being given the opportunity to host Auction Room. It’s completely up my street – I’ve been buying and selling at auctions since I was a teenager. There’s always something unexpected that happens in an auction room: a record price is set or an absolute bargain slips through that no one else has spotted. The only predictable thing about auctions is you never know what’s going to happen!” he said.

Colin Grubb, Executive Producer said, “With William McInnes’ busy work schedule preventing him from returning to Auction Room this season, we’re thrilled that Gordon Brown is able to take the lead. As an auction room aficionado, Gordon has a wealth of expertise that makes him a natural fit for the program.”

McInnes has been cast in upcoming ABC drama The Time of Our Lives.
