Returning: Breaking Bad

Award-winning US drama Breaking Bad begins its fifth and final season on Showcase later this month.

“All hail the king.”

Award-winning US drama Breaking Bad begins its fifth and final season on Showcase later this month. This season will be split into two parts across 2012 – 13.

Bryan Cranston returns as Walter White the chemistry teacher who, after learning he has terminal cancer, turns to a life of crime and embraces his alter ego whilst continuing to battle his duelling identities: a desperate husband and father trying to provide for his family, and a key player in the Albuquerque drug trade.

In a recent interview, Cranston said, “[In the premiere of Season 5], we pick up right where we left off. We’re cleaning up the pieces from last season’s huge ordeal where Gus Fring (Giancarlo Esposito) was forced to meet his maker. It’s not as easy as Walter thought. And as we’ve discovered over the years, you don’t really know who Walter White is.”

It returns 7:30pm Sunday July 29, which is 2 weeks after its US screening.

  1. Dayman you’ll manage because it will give you some viewing to look forward to each week & more suspense waiting for what happens next, it really is that good 😉
I’ve been hanging out for the new season, best thing on tv…like ever.

  2. For whatever reason I never watched this when it started. Caught up all 4 seasons on blu-ray over the last few months.

    Amazing show.

I don’t know how i’ll manage watching it week to week.

  3. 2 weeks isn’t that long a wait but unfortunately a lot of drama fans, the ones that should be buying Showcsase subscriptions, can get each episode within 24 hours of the US TX via bit torrents. I will still go on paying in the face of a more convenient means.

  4. I’m so excited for this. Season 4 was amazing! It deserves Best Drama at the Emmys this year. The last episode for this year will have a massive cliff hanger I bet
