FOX8 will screen the 64th Primetime Emmy Awards live to Australia next month, hosted by Jimmy Kimmel.

FOX8 will screen the 64th Primetime Emmy Awards live to Australia next month.

Hosted by Jimmy Kimmel, the ceremony sees Judy Davis and, in her first nomination, Nicole Kidman both up for acting gongs.

Kidman is nominated for her lead role as Martha Gellhorn in the HBO mini series Hemingway & Gellhorn, which will premiere in Australia on September 12 on showcase.

Three-time winner and Emmys darling Judy Davis is nominated for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Miniseries/Movie for her performance in the BBC spy drama Page Eight also on showcase.

So far this no indication whether the Emmys will air later on Free to Air TV.

Subscription television programming continues to dominate the award nominations this year:

· showcase ‘s Game of Thrones, Boardwalk Empire, Girls, Veep, Dexter and Breaking Bad are all on the list of nominees. And the critically acclaimed HBO movie Game Change, based on the 2008 US presidential campaign has garnered 12 nominations, including Outstanding Miniseries/Movie. Stars Julianne Moore, Woody Harrelson, Ed Harris, and Sarah Paulson are nominated for their portrayals of Sarah Palin, Steve Schmidt, Sen. John McCain, and Nicolle Wallace.

· Movie Extra’s Mad Men has received an incredible 17 nominations, including Most Outstanding Drama.

Other nominated shows include FOX8’s American Idol, The Simpsons, Family Guy, Falling Skies and Grimm, SoHo’s Damages, The Borgias, Entourage and Smash, Arena’s Project Runway and Top Chef, FX’s The Walking Dead, Hell on Wheels and Justified, Cartoon Network’s Adventure Time and Regular Show, Nickelodeon’s iCarly,Victorius and Penguins of Madagascar along with Discovery Network’s Deadliest Catch and Whale Wars.

The Comedy Channel’s Betty White’s Off Their Rockers has been nominated. Plus in the Variety show category, four of the six contenders are The Colbert Report, The Daily Show with Jon Stewart, Late Night with Jimmy Fallon and Saturday Night Live, which are all only on Foxtel.

  1. Hopefully after this, we can get Kimmel back on the air in Aus.

    Especially since his show is being moved up in time slot in the US to compete directly with Leno and Letterman.

  2. So excited for the Emmy’s now that Breaking Bad is back in the race.

    My Predictions are;
    Best Drama Series: Breaking Bad (season 4 was amazing and i have a feeling it will trump Mad Men
    Best Actor: Bryan Craston
    BEst Actress: Claire Danes
    Supporting Actor: Giancarlo Espotio
    Supporting ACtress: Christina Hendricks
