  1. I didn’t watch 9’s coverage purely because I knew Eddie’s inane rambling would drive me nutty, in the same way someone chatty sitting beside you at the movie does.

The FOX 8 coverage started off in the same way with lots of chatter about stuff I already knew or didn’t care about. I nearly gave up but am glad I didn’t, sanity prevailed once the athletes were in and the closing ceremony really started. Silence from the hosts…. bliss.

Wish there was a way to choose between the option to hear commentry or not…

  2. Sorry, it was almost impossible to be aware of anything apart from Eddie’s droning voice. That night on FB people were posting, one after the other, “shut up Eddie!”. He and Leila spoke over the vast majority of acts; indeed the closing ceremony seemed rather unimportant to the pair of them.

Note the poll here and that 94% opined that 9 had spoiled ‘parts’ of the closing ceremony:

That poll wording is polite; as far as the majority on social media were concerned, they spoiled the whole lot.

Add to the fact that the closing ceremony was not shown at a family friendly hour, and it was a broad failure.
