Don’t call us…. dance acts cut from Everybody Dance Now

88 acts were originally set for Everybody Dance Now, but now some young dancers won't even take to the dance floor.

TEN’s changes to Everybody Dance Now mean not all of the acts will now appear on the show.

Originally the show had a whopping 88 acts for its Dance Duels, but changes to the format both in terms of show length and construct, mean fewer acts will now appear.

That will be a huge disappointment to many of the young dancers who were excited by their chance at TV fame and the cash prize. Much of the criticism has been levelled at the format, judges and host while diverse dance acts have attracted the show’s only praise.

TV Tonight understands some acts have already been told not to bother turning up this weekend. Don’t call us….?

The show now sees three duels of six acts in a one hour format. It was originally scheduled for 90 minutes this Sunday and another 90 minutes on Monday.

The prize of $250,000 remains intact but the 2 x $10,000 for each episode is now a sole $10,000.

TEN declined to comment.

  1. Its quite simply very badly produced and poorly thought out.. It’s not a format but a piece of paper. To think that it went through so many executive hands and was still green lit beggers belief and merely confirms how bereft of original thought and creativity most tv execs and imported EP’s are. It’s be coined “everybody quit now” within the industry as the amount of staff that have walked out numbers nearly 10 as the production schedule is outrageous and unworkable with 15 – 17 hour shoot days the norm. It’s doomed.! A very sad indictment of the current industry, it’s leaders, and the craze of importing EP’s from the UK..

  2. I’m still quite shocked at how badly this show has gone. I just don’t understand how today something like this could have been produced without someone questioning this format along the way.

An audition phase introducing us to the format letting us start to get behind some favourites would definitely have been nice, not just throwing us straight into round 1 with no warning.

But what should have been more obvious is the completely unnecessary 5 minutes of Kelly and Jason telling the in-studio audience why they should vote one way. What is the benefit of that to the TV audience? That is just unpleasant.

It seems like they were given a second chance here to make some serious tweaks to the formula to stop turning people away.

You could just as easily fit the same amount of dance acts into the shorter time slot. Just cut the continues rambling of the same words in different orders to the in-studio audience.

Cutting dance acts and taking away the chance they promised them is just another bad decision to add to the list. I feel sorry for the youngsters that are going to be heartbroken.

  3. “Much of the criticism has been levelled at the format, judges and host while diverse dance acts have attracted the show’s only praise.”

So if the dancing is the only thing receiving praise, why Cut the dance acts? Should they do something about the format, judges and host then?

    Great logic right there.

  4. Is it just me who is confused here?

In another story today, David, you quoted David Mott as having “listened to the feedback from viewers” and revamped the format of this show…

But can anyone, anywhere, at any time point me to where the people have asked for Less dance acts?

What they have asked for is less crap from the so-called “experts” and More dancing….

Ten quite obviously have not listened at all. That is their entire problem. Bunch of gooses.

(apologies to any geese I have offended).

  5. They should be grateful this turkey wasn’t canceled before it even aired, like Don’t Stop Believing. It’s a miracle the show is even still on at all, I give it three weeks before it gets axed entirely or moved to Eleven
