Minor Spoilers: Go Back to Where You Came From will meet two of the three Indonesian teenagers who spent 14 months in a Queensland prison for people smuggling, before the government agreed they were underage and released them.

Ako Lani and John Ndollu, from a village on Roti Island, told Australian authorities they were 15 and 16 when they were intercepted near Ashmore Reef in 2010.

The boys will tell the SBS programme they were fisherman who did what their boss told them. They thought they were helping Australians to get home.

Meeting them in Indonesia are former Defence Minister Peter Reith, singer Angry Anderson and writer Catherine Deveny.

The three discover the issues being asylum seekers and people smuggling is far more complex than any of them had realised.

Go Back to Where You Came From airs 8:30pm Tuesday – Thursday on SBS ONE.
