"I am thankful for the respect and privacy that has been afforded to me whilst I focus on my recovery," says celebrity chef Matt Golinski.

Celebrity chjef Matt Golinski, who who suffered third degree burns when his family perished in a Tewantin house fire on Boxing Day, has released a statement on his recovery.

“I am thankful for the respect and privacy that has been afforded to me whilst I focus on my recovery and work out what the future may entail,” a statement reads.

“Physically, I am getting stronger every day but emotionally it is still very difficult.

“My world has been turned upside down.

“Rest, meditation, and the time to process all that has happened are important aspects of my healing.”

The Ready Steady Cook chef gave an unpaid interview to News Limited “as a way of communicating publicly and quickly, his recovery progress (and) as a way of thanking the local community for their support”.

“Matt is very grateful for the support provided to him during these past eight months, including the level of privacy that media has afforded to him,” the statement read.

“He understands the public’s interest in him wanting to tell his story, but at this point isn’t emotionally or physically ready to tell it.”

  1. How anyone bounces back after what he’s been through is hard to comprehend.

He must be finding reserves of courage and resilience within himself which he never knew existed.

Hope he continues to find the strength to keep physically recovering and finds meaning and purpose in life.

Best wishes for your future recovery, Matt.

  2. The strength he must have is well I honestly do not think there is a word or words to describe, This is a man who has lost everything and still hasn’t given up. I know I would have.
