Mike Whitney, 750 weekenders and counting.

Having already notched up 18 years as host, this weekend Mike Whitney reaches his 750th episode of Sydney Weekender.

You’ll be hard pressed to find a patch of New South Wales that Mike Whitney hasn’t yet visited.

Having already notched up 18 years as host of Seven’s Sydney Weekender, this weekend he reaches his 750th episode.

“If someone had told me 18 years ago that I would still be hosting Sydney Weekender and clocking up more episodes than Homer Simpson, I would have told them they’re dreaming!” he says.

To mark the occasion, this week’s episode adopts a gold theme with a glimpse of ‘golden experiences from across New South Wales.’

Mike travels to the picture-perfect rural town of Garrawilla to join the town’s horse stampede where more than 200 horses are mustered 22 kilometres to neighbouring town New England.

Former rugby league champion Jason Stevens and wife Beck are pampered Moroccan style at a luxury spa salon in Woollahra, while Lea Wilson tempts viewers tastebuds with a golden culinary experience at The Ortolan on Bayswater and Golden Century Seafood Restaurants in Sydney.

Saturday August 18, 2012 at 5.30pm on Seven (Sydney).
