Nine dumps Big Brother Sunday edition on GO!

Nine continues to amend its Big Brother schedule, making life tricky for fans of the show trying to stay on top of the action.

On the weekend it abandoned its plans to run a new Daily Show on Sundays at 6pm on GO!

This had aired the previous week, as a means of capturing all the action from the house that had occurred on Friday and Saturday.

Last night GO! ran a rerun of its Friday edition, which showcased Thursday action.

A Nine spokesperson told TV Tonight, “There was daily content at the head of tonight show and now the secrets are out we’ll have more time on a Sunday to showcase daily happenings.”

But with less content the storylines were confusing. On the Friday show, viewers watched as Layla was getting cosy with Michael. By Sunday viewers were told housemates had been noticing her getting cosy with George.

It was a weakly-edited storyline, and viewers had been denied seeing the context because there was no Daily show on GO!

Together with a lack of Live Feeds online, the content from a 24/7 social experiment continues to diminish.

However Nine has doubled its Tuesday night episode to one hour, but moved Big Brother Confidential to 8pm Thursdays, now in a PG rated timeslot.

  1. Thats a shame, as last weeks sunday daily show on go demonstrated some fabulous editing at the end of the episode which tied up their storyline of Estelle Ryan and Bradley. It was really well done…

  2. Sad to say but I use to be a BB tragic back in the day. But I’m having trouble getting into 9’s revamp. They just arent showing enough content. With 2 digital channels, they could be making much better use of the hours and hours of footage they have. Ten just did it so much better.

  3. It’s odd Nine seems to want to show as little BB content as possible.

I guess the thinking is, if you show less content in fewer shows, more people will tune in?? What nonsense. It’s just damaging. They’re catering to the casual BB viewer not the fans of the show.

There’s no room for casual viewers to become bigger fans. The bigger fans are being turned off by how insulting the lack of content is.

Days go by where there’s only a hand full of content that ever see’s the light of day by fans.

  4. I tuned into go only to find out that it was a repeat i was annoyed but was happy when they showed a short daily show during the eviction i didnt like how they showed stuff we had already seen before what they needed to do was just show about 45 minutes of new content on the daily show and then the last 15 minutes can be the eviction and interview

  5. Ashton, that so called “controversy” was based on an article written by Fairfax journalist Christine Sams, who apparently had nothing better to write about than BB airing footage of a back massage at 7:50pm – a massage which was no more explicit than the obligatory massage every TV travel reporter receives when they stay at a tropical island resort.

  6. Squeezing two days worth of footage into a half hour Daily Show on GO! was bad enough, but the current situation is really intolerable. Even if they devote half of the Eviction show to Daily Show content from now on, it will still mean that we will see four times as much content from Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays as we will see from Fridays and Saturdays. Unless Big Brother sedates the housemates for two days straight, its inevitable that we are going to miss a lot of important footage which will infuriate hardcore fans and leave more casual viewers feeling confused and disengaged from the show.

At the very least Nine desperately need to bring back the live streams or Up Late, because with the lack of content most fans feel as though they are watching a bunch of soap opera characters rather than real people they can truly connect to.

And Bella, whilst Friday Night Live isn’t a part of BB I miss particularly badly, it is very strange that Nine chose not to bring it back considering it typically brought in around a million viewers over a two hour timeslot on one of the lowest rating nights of the week. A very weird decision imo.

  7. I wondered about George and Layla and thought, hey when did this all happen and how did it come about.I’ve hardly seen George and next thing you know he’s kissing Layla under the doona.I’ve got to say it’s really been poor editing and a bit of a mish-mash.I’m still watching too,but getting more disappointed.

  8. I really cant imagine no more how channel 9 has issues and plain stupidity by all means. Why have so everything set up such as big brother all new big brother show and in a week later they know want to remove this and what not and all this its like playing suffling cards just because they are bored and want to give channel 9 a spin off headache. Thats not how a prime network should muck around.

Also GO channel i see on the tv timetable that they have big brother showing on saturday from around 330pm until 630pm but its all repeats of all the daily shows of the last week. They have done the very same thing just this past weekend specialy for saturday and sunday a good 4 or so hours of big brother but all repeats.

Look all i can say is… why not hold back Dallas… hold back Underbelly and howzat when big brother show ends.. because having all this new stuff between 7pm until midnight is going to be far too much that there wont be room for everything. Why not have new things not at the same time but shuffle them any other time in the year why not new dallas in march.. how about howzat series in november… how about underbelly all new series in january… Do not have everything new all in the very same time when big brother is apearng. This aint the new year where new stuff apears.. I really should visit channel 9 and tell them the way everyone thinks.

  9. Channel nine are doing a poor job with BB. I’m still watching it but I’m not finding any of the housemates that interesting and some of the housemates I’ve hardly seen anything of at all! I waited for the daily show on GO last night and thought I must have got the time wrong, Nine need to inform the BB fans better. I also thought the eviction show lacked any form of excitement and anticipation. The only network that BB can work on is probably Ten and in it’s original format, not the last season.

  10. Sorry if this has already been asked. But what happened to the Friday night games that they used to have previous seasons. That was always the fun part for me.
