This Sunday on ABC News 24’s edition of Tonic, Dr Norman Swan explores the lives of people with asthma.

One in six children and one in ten adults suffer from it, yet many aren’t taking their medication properly (or taking the right medications) and their health is suffering as a result.

Recent research shows that over 60 percent of sufferers don’t get appropriate care from their doctors.

We speak to asthma expert Dr Peter Matthews from the Australian School of Advanced Medicine and interview two asthma sufferers, Kathy and Jeff, who let us into their lives so we can see just how asthma affects them. We explore how asthma is managed in schools, and how to get the most out of your medications.

Tonic’s fitness guru Geoff Brockenshire also busts myths surrounding asthma and exercise.

Sundays at 7.30pm AEST on ABC News 24.
