X Factor marks the spot

Ratings: The X Factor has now won 6 of 6 nights - a much needed hit for FremantleMedia after some disappointing shows this year.

For the third night in a row The X Factor has topped the ratings. The Seven show has now won 6 of 6 nights it has played – a much needed hit for FremantleMedia after some disappointing shows this year.

Seven was 32.8% then Nine 23.5%, ABC 18.3%, TEN 17.6% and SBS 7.8%.

The X Factor was 1.43m for Seven then Seven News (1.18m), Today Tonight (1.07m), Home and Away (976,000), Criminal Minds (956,000), Deal or No Deal (529,000) and Covert Affairs (426,000).

Big Brother and Nine News both level pegged on 1.10m for Nine followed by ACA (1.00m), The Farmer Wants a Wife (894,000) another FremantleMedia show, Hot Seat (567,000) and Dallas (368,000 / 258,000).

ABC News was 1.04m for ABC1 then Gruen Planet (810,000), Qi (725,000), 7:30 (719,000), Would I Lie to You? (513,000), Randling (471,000), Australia’s Paralympians (385,000) and At the Movies (316,000).

Puberty Blues (751,000) was best for TEN. TEN News was 674,000, Modern Family was 534,000, The Project 6pm was 431,000, I Will Survive (also from FremantleMedia) was 360,000 and Class Of was 290,000.

Go Back to Where You Came From was 652,000 for SBS ONE, down 100,000 on Tuesday. Last year the trend was to increase with each night. Wildest Africa was 295,000, Sandhurst Military Academy was 262,000 and World News Australia was 179,000.

Neighbours (yep, FremantleMedia) topped multichannels with 334,000.

  1. Well those that did not watch Go Back…missed a really good episode….a real eye opener….it is repeated tonight at 9.30pm on SBSTWO…ch.32

  2. Goodbye to JR and Dallas – I expect one episode per week at 10.30 will be the go after the numbers last night.

Also, isn’t anyone a little disappointed that Puberty Blues has dropped? But still rates better than anything else on Ten so it is safe.

  3. “I Will Survive” surely will be moved to Eleven or relegated to Saturday nights on Ten?
I can’t help thinking that the whole Priscilla/drag queen thing had its day years ago – probably why it hasn’t worked this time around.
Agree that the talent this year on X Factor is better than last year’s lineup – should be interesting to see who makes it past bootcamp.

  4. I get annoyed at what counts as “talent” on the X Factor this year. Anyone who can vaguely sing in tune is getting through. Are these people gonna last in the music industry? Hell no. When you have much more talented singers on American Idol and X Factor US who are struggling to have any mainstream success. And the Australian X Factor judges fawn all over them calling them amazing with star quality?! I just don’t get it.

  5. The talent as a whole in X Factor this year seems better than any previous season of X Factor or Aus Idol. Just from what we’ve seen so far,
    anyway.

  6. As much as I would like to see Idol back, I think with AGT, The Voice and X-Factor that’s too of the same. But I really enjoy So You Think You Can Dance and I think it can work again.

  7. 10 shouldn’t bring back Aus Idol. That’s in the past. It was idol that started off shows like x factor. X factor is the replacement for idol in may ways. Bringing back idol is going backwards.

If anything 10 should just get big brother again back off 9 and they can give it extra shows like Uplate and Friday night games once again.

  8. Australian Idol is too old school and expensive to come back and is already well covered by The Voice and X-Factor. Competing against the big boys will end in tears

I don’t think anyone would want to launch another dance show after the disaster that was Everybody Dance Now.

I think we’ll be seeing a lot of cheap import alternatives lining Ten’s timeslots for a long time.

  9. Australian Idol was made initially by Grundy TV, then Fremantle Media in its later years.

I can’t imagine Network Ten bringing back Australian Idol as I personally believe it won’t solve their problems.

I think “So You Think You Can Dance” is a much better option but I’ve heard Seven has their eye on that one.

  10. Ah you mentioned it here…
Biggest disappointment of the night was Go back to where you came from…lost 100,000 viewers. Very disappointing. Means 100,000 people tried it last night and couldnt give it another go. Hmmmmm SBS will be disappointed. I was expecting it to climb above 820k
