ELEVEN launches the US adaptation of Skins this Sunday night.
The MTV teen series, based on the BBC original, only survived one season in the US.
Skins is funny, sexy, disrespectful, stupid and licentious. Following the lives of nine high school students, it fearlessly pokes fun at parents, teachers, the crazy rules of friendship and love in the teen years. Skins is on the edge of acceptability all the time. But along the way, it stumbles across depth and truth; honing in on the difficulties and complications of young peoples’ lives.
11pm Sunday on ELEVEN.

It would make a pleasant change if for once the schedulers at 10, 11, and One took a risk by broadcasting something edgy first, rather than always going for the US re-makes of UK (and in the case of Wilfred) Australian shows that have already been shown on other channels (usually the ABC and SBS).
As for Skins, the UK version was great viewing for a couple of series before it jumped the shark, I can’t see an Americanised version improving on that.
I watched in foxtel last year, it was really bad. really really bad. no where near as good as the original (UK version)
