Charlotte Dawson to appear at SlimeFest

Just two weeks after 60 Minutes told viewers she had attempted to take her own life, Charlotte Dawson will appear at Nickelodeon's SlimeFest.

Just two weeks after 60 Minutes told viewers she had attempted to take her own life, Charlotte Dawson will appear at Nickelodeon’s SlimeFest this weekend.

Dawson is one of four celebrities taking part in the viewer-voted Celebrity Slime Dunk. Joining her are Richard Wilkins, Brian McFadden, Biggest Loser‘s Commando Steve. One will win the kids’ vote and dunked into the human slime-dunking machine.

Nickelodeon had suspended voting with viewers after she was hospitalised.

There are two SlimeFest shows on Saturday at the Hordern Pavillion, with a broadcast to take place at 6pm on Nickelodeon.

For Australian kids and tweens across the country (as well as the young at heart), the final countdown is now on for the Nickelodeon promise to have “the slime your life!” Nickelodeon Australia’s highly anticipated, inaugural SlimeFest music concerts for kids & tweens will be making a big splash this Saturday September 15, with two 90-minute shows at 11.00am and 5.00pm at Sydney’s Hordern Pavilion, and a national broadcast at 6.00pm the same night on Nickelodeon.

Hosted by Nickelodeon’s own comedic duo Luke & Wyatt, with official backstage reporting from “16 and Unstoppable” singer Christina Parie, SlimeFest will be bringing audiences a hot line-up of music performances from Jessica Mauboy, Reece Mastin, Justice Crew, Stan Walker, Johnny Ruffo and Christina Parie, in addition to some very big moments in slime!

The Guinness World Records attempt for “The Most People Slimed Simultaneously” will be a huge slimestorm moment, as will interactive crowd slime games involving newly announced big-kid celebs such as Grant Denyer, Rachael Finch and Tiffiny Hall.

And if that isn’t enough slime to whet everyone’s appetite for the green goodness, even more slime will flow with the Celebrity Slime Dunk! Kids are currently voting via the The Nick Shack (www.nickelodeon.com.au) for the star that they see most worthy of the honour of experiencing the new human slime-dunking machine. Slime Dunk nominees as previously announced are Australia’s Next Top Model judge Charlotte Dawson, Nine Network Entertainment Editor Richard Wilkins, Biggest Losers’ toughest trainer Commando Steve, and Australia’s Got Talent’s Brian McFadden. Richard, Brian, Charlotte and Commando are set to take to the SlimeFest stage at both the 11.00am and 5.00pm shows. For the 11am show, the celeb leading the polls will be immersed in the green goodness, giving audiences a sneak peek into who the most voted for and victorious slime worthy celeb will be — to be announced in epic dunking style at the 5.00pm show.

Nickelodeon’s recently announced campaign for positivity, Dare To Be Square, will provide an uplifting moment of awareness during SlimeFest, with the longer term goal of reaching one million square pics uploaded online. The campaign is inspired by everyone’s hero, SpongeBob SquarePants, and during the shows Luke & Wyatt will call on the crowd to “throw a square in the air” with their hands, to show the power of positivity and standing up as an individual. To date, hundreds of kids and scores of celebrities have shown support for the Dare To Be Square campaign. With the list continually growing, celebrities who have snapped a “square in the air” pic include: Delta Goodrem, Rove, Bonnie Lythgoe, Darren Mcmullen, Bindi & Robert Irwin, Kris Smith, Nova Network’s Tim, Meshel and Marty, Ryan Fitzgerald, and Smallzy, Peter Morrissey, Firass Dirani, Rob Mills, Nick’s Luke & Wyatt, MTV’s Kate Peck, Keiynan Lonsdale, Guy and Jules Sebastian, Reece Mastin, Stan Walker, Johnny Ruffo, Christina Parie, Tiffiny Hall, Gyton Grantley, Ruby Rose…and more!

Nickelodeon is urging even more kids to keep uploading their squares online, by visiting www.nickelodeon.com.au/daretobesquare , and for celebrities to email them in to Nickelodeon Publicity and use Twitter hashtag #DARETOBESQUARE to pass on the word.

With tickets for the initial 5.00pm show sold out, just a few tickets still remain for the 11.00am 90min show through Ticketek (www.ticketek.com.au).
