Foxtel dumps The View

Season 16 of The View began in the US this week but will no longer be screening on Foxtel.

Season 16 of The View began in the US this week but will no longer be screening on Foxtel.

With the show already on Free to Air, Foxtel has discontinued the chat show.

A Foxtel spokesperson told TV Tonight, “The View will no longer be screening on Foxtel’s Arena. We have enjoyed a great partnership, however The View is currently screening on Channel Nine and our focus is to invest in another talk show format which will be exclusive to Arena. We are currently investigating formats and will announce in due course.”

The View is fast-tracked on Nine weekdays at 1pm following The Ellen De Generes Show.

Meanwhile Foxtel recently clarified the reasoning behind dropping NatGeo+2 channel this month.

“We’re constantly monitoring the popularity and usage of our channels so we can deliver a better service. Since its launch in February this year, FX has been hugely popular. So we’ve decided to give our customers more time to watch what they enjoy. In early September, we’re removing Nat Geo Adventure+2 and replacing it with FX+2 as we saw FX as a better fit to have on Timeshift. This is particularly the case for our customers in Perth, who will now be able to watch FX programming in their primetime,” they said.

  1. Very disappointed that The View is no longer on Foxtel – really enjoyed catching up with the episodes on Sunday – I hope Nine puts a repeat on Gem TV as I know they will not show episodes during cricket season.

  2. I assume that Foxtel will get Bethany. Bethany Frankel’s talk show on Bravo. (Produced by Ellen). Any news David?

FX+2 good news, however I only watch FXHD so…

  3. I only watch The View for the interviews and having it on Arena was a good backup for the times Nine drops it for sport or unexpected live events. Just hope they use GEM on days it can’t be shown on the main channel.

    FX+2 is a good idea.

  4. A great Show.I have been watching most days during Exercise Sessions/Workouts and probably one of the few of it’s type left.Oprah’s Gone,Ellen is a one woman thing and this is most likely what will be a successor for many of us to our Circle.

  5. Seriously???? What are you thinking Foxtel!!!!!!
My fav show on TV…. Series Linked for the last few years!! Even followed as it switched channels from W.
Guess I’ll just have to watch on 9… And any time cricket or a breaking news story is on it will be the first show thrown out the schedule!
Fox you have how many channels and you can’t find a space for this show!
