Gruen Planet: Sept 26

Gruen looks at the iPhone 5 launch and brands that are getting behind the campaign for same-sex marriage.

Tonight’s guests on Gruen are Dan Gregory, Co-founder and CEO of The Impossible Institute, plus freelance communications strategist Caroline Miller and future TEN exec Russel Howcroft -oh wait…

They take a look at brands which are getting behind the push for gay marriage.

The Pitch is a campaign to convince us to abandon our e-book readers and return to old-fashioned books.

In tonight’s episode:

· The iPhone 5 experience – The Gruen team looks at the world’s biggest brand, unpicking the iPhone 5 launch, examining the ways Apple creates buying frenzy through headlines and hype, and how its competitor Samsung has ambushed at every step.
· The almighty Pink dollar – Same Sex marriage can’t get through parliament, but it is gradually weaving its way into advertising. Tonight we look at brands taking a stand and joining the debate.
· Spin Cycle – Counting down our favourite moves on the old publicity chessboard. This week’s nominees: Prince Charles, Lady Gaga and Vladimir Putin.

· Personal Worst – Each week, Gruen continues its search for the WORST performance by an athlete in a TV commercial. Tonight, in celebration of the footy grand finals, we showcase an atrocious ad from 2009 featuring Carlton players Jared Waite and Andrew Walker.
· The Pitch: Darren Ralph from thinkbone (Sydney) vs Mike Preston from Enigma (Newcastle).
The Brief: A campaign to convince us to abandon our e-book readers and only read books made of paper.
The Client: The National Book Council.
