Robert Hughes keen to fight charges

Former Hey Dad! star Robert Hughes appeared at Westminster Magistrates Court in London, as part of extradition proceedings yesterday.

Hughes, 64, is wanted in Australia to face 11 charges, including sexual assault and gross indecency made by five people dating back 27 years.

His lawyer, Rachel Kapila, told the court “Mr Hughes is keen not to delay the proceedings any more than necessary and get back and prove his innocence.”

Strict bail conditions will continue. They include a curfew, monitoring device and a $93,000 bail surety.

Another procedural hearing has been set for Friday week.
