ABC1 has commissioned a new documentary series called Inside AFLÂ (working title)-but it isn’t a look at the inner sanctum of AFL administration.
The five part series will follow a team of Aussie Rules players from Wooroloo Prison Farm, east of Perth. The men step outside the walls of jail once a week “to prove that they are more than just criminals – to the community and to themselves.”
A mentoring program run in conjunction with the Swan Districts Football Club (pictured) has used AFL to improve behaviour, physical fitness, well-being, and a sense of belonging amongst prisoners.
Andrew Krakouer was a member of the Wooroloo Prison football team in 2009 season.
The production comes from WildFury Productions & Spear Point Productions with Kelrick Martin as Writer / Director / Producer and Veronica Fury also as Producer.
With funding from Screen Australia, it is expected to air in 2013.

Andrew Krakouer still does play AFL. He ran around in the WAFL after his sentence, before joining Collingwood at the beginning of 2011
Sounds good
