Seven has scheduled US series Scandal to premiere next Monday night, to replace GCB which has now wrapped up (and no second season).

The political drama comes from Shonda Rhimes (Grey’s Anatomy, Private Practice) and stars Kerry Washington.

The show premiered in the US in April and has been approved for a second season.

Olivia Pope is the former communications director to the President and she and her team will do whatever it takes to make their clients’ problems go away. Young lawyer Quinn Perkins is offered a job with Olivia Pope’s firm and Quinn is in awe. Olivia’s former boss, President Fitzgerald Grant, and his chief of staff, Cyrus Beene, are never far from her beat – and when a White House intern accuses the President of having an affair, Olivia is the only one they trust to diffuse the problem. But the news hits close to home for Olivia, and Quinn soon realises Olivia’s clients aren’t the only ones with secrets.

  1. @ Josh777 the second season has started airing in the US and will be 13 eps or less.

I too will give it a go. Hope the first season (7eps) airs continuously till the ratings season ends!??

  2. More than approved for a second season – already this week will see episode 3 of season 2 go to air. I have to agree that the plot is over the top ridiculous and so American.

  3. It’s delicious fun lots of shocks and twists as long you completely suspend your disbelief at some of the relationships. Well acted some excellent dialogue and clever story writing. There’s one flashback ep near the end which is particularly excellent. Overall a definite must watch.

I would if you can avoid watching channel 7s adverts for it because I notice they are spoiling some of the best moments. First season is only 7 eps and passes by quickly. Can’t wait to see what happens in the 2nd

  4. “Shonda Rhimes” and “approved for a second season” – definitely giving this show a shot! Hopefully it is as good as the promo looks.
But it seems to have a similar premise as House of Lies from what I can tell from the promos, so I wonder if TEN will finally reschedule it to try and get ratings up by offering their target demographic a version of the show?

  5. Looks interesting 🙂
On a personal note, I can’t watch anything Tony Goldwyn is in since I saw him in “Ghost”.
He does scary really well 😉
He’s such a great actor. I’m sure he’ll be great in this 🙂
