Chaser boys back to host Screen Music Awards

The Screen Music Awards will be held for the third time in Melbourne, hosted by Chris Taylor and Andrew Hansen.

The APRA (Australasian Performing Right Association) and the AGSC (Australian Guild of Screen Composers) have announced the Screen Music Awards will be held for the third time in Melbourne, in November.

The awards, which champion music composition in film and television will be staged at BMW Edge at Federation Square with The Chaser’s Chris Taylor and Andrew Hansen back to host the evening.

APRA|AMCOS CEO Brett Cottle said: “The Screen Music Awards highlight the outstanding achievements of Australia’s film and television composers. The wealth of their creativity and talent is evident throughout our cinematic landscape, and we are pleased to support and recognise them.”

The 2012 Screen Music Awards will pay tribute to music composers across 12 categories including compositions for documentaries, short films, mini-series, and children’s television and feature film scores.

A live orchestra, conducted by musical director Paul Grabowsky, will perform a selection of nominated compositions at the event.

Nominees will be announced on Thursday October 18th, 2012 with the event to take place on Monday November 19th.
