Design a STUDIO promo contest

STUDIO is looking for four Australian artists to create a a 30-second television commercial that brings the channel to life.

Arts channel STUDIO has announced a contest that gives four Australian artists the chance to create a a 30-second television commercial that brings the channel to life.

STUDIO will cover all production costs, each finalist receives $1,000 prize money and one winner receives $10,000.

STUDIO is searching for the brightest sparks in the creative communities to help create fresh and exciting new brand spots. Finalists will co-produce their concept with STUDIO, receive awesome prize money and other exciting opportunities including a billboard in Sydney’s Kings Cross. The only guideline is that the concept should bring the STUDIO logo to life through art or design.

Applications open Tuesday 2 October, and STUDIO wants to hear from all artists regardless of form or method – whether it’s stop-motion animation, street art, sculpture, lighting and everything in between. Anything goes – we want to be surprised, delighted and even shocked.

Artists should blow us away with their submission for a 30-second television commercial that brings the STUDIO logo to life – along with their resumé, and how they’d do it for under $5,000. We cover all finalists’ production costs, so no artists will be left out-of-pocket.

After 31 October selected entrants will be invited to present their ideas to a judging panel, and four finalists will be chosen.

Each finalist will automatically receive a prize of $1,000, and will work with STUDIO and a dedicated production manager to bring their concept to life. The judging panel will then review the four finished promos – and a final winner will be awarded $10,000 based on originality and strength of execution.

Their artwork will be displayed on a Kings Cross billboard, and they’ll have the chance to take part in an exclusive mentorship program.

STUDIO is working closely with The Loop (www.theloop.com.au) to reach out to Australia’s most exciting talent. As Australia’s largest online network of creative professionals, The Loop has an unparalleled community of artists, designers, filmmakers, photographers and directors, making them an invaluable partner for Create STUDIO.

“The competition also means that we can support artist’s work – we cover all production costs, each finalist receives $1,000 prize money and we’ll award the Create STUDIO winner $10,000. That way we’re rewarding artist’s creativity, and helping to foster their future projects.”

The winning brand spots will air on STUDIO from early 2013.
