An episode of SBS’ Insight has been recognised for its positive portrayal of people with a disability.

“Breaking Point” has won the Best TV News, Feature or Documentary (more than 5 mins) category in the Victorian-based Yooralla Media Awards.

The episode which aired last month was hosted by Anton Enus.

The Yooralla Media Awards “recognise reporting across all media that has helped to challenge stereotypes that unfairly define people with a disability. It is awarded for coverage that accurately, positively and sensitively portrays the achievements of people with a disability and the myriad issues they face.”

Breaking Point examined one of the toughest decisions a parent could face: whether to hand over a child with a disability to the care of the state. In an emotional and honest discussion, Insight heard from people with a disability, their families and the government about the extraordinary challenges they face.

Breaking Point was broadcast in September this year, hosted by Anton Enus and produced by Meggie Palmer along with associate producers Hannah Meagher and Sarah Allely.
