Mal Walden renews with TEN

"Phenomenal" TEN News presenter has signed a new contract to remain with its Melbourne news team.

TEN News presenter has signed a new contract to remain with its Melbourne news team, 3AW reports.

Walden is something of a “phenomenon” in media, recently celebrating 50 years in the biz, and has endured through the changing landscape that is television news and network management.

He has been with TEN since 1987 and authored a book on TEN history for its 30th anniversary in 2004.

Walden’s presenting style sometimes draws upon spontaneous humour editorialising on news stories, which would undoubtedly attract criticism for less experienced presenters. Somehow Walden has turned it into an asset…

TV Tonight recently heard whispers Walden had been encouraged to delay retirement by management but last week TEN would not comment on contracts, indicating there were no changes to the presenting team.

He continues with TEN’s Melbourne News alongside Helen Kapalos.
