Mockingbird Lane … meet the new-look Munsters

Feast your eyes on the new-look Munster family, getting a Halloween outing in the US after all.

Feast your eyes on the new-look Munster family from Bryan Singer’s Mockingbird Lane.

There’s not a hint of green make-up amongst the cast including Jerry O’Connell, Portia de Rossi nor Eddie Izzard….

Following speculation the reimagining written by Bryan Fuller would not even reach the screens comes confirmation that NBC will air the Pilot will air as a Halloween special leading into a Halloween-themed episode of Grimm.

“This exciting new take on a memorable series will definitely blow out conventional wisdom and create its own legacy,” said NBC Entertainment president Jennifer Salke. “Teaming this new show with a terrifying episode of Grimm makes the perfect pre-Halloween fright-fest.”

NBC execs have previously been reported as unhappy with the $10M Pilot and have not approved a series.

Guess that makes this a do or die test.

  1. Strange portrait, guess that means the character of Marilyn will be completely different, as she won’t have that bit of being the freaky looking one of the Family compared to the others (in her mind and there minds).

  2. When I first heard they were looking at a remake years ago I suspected they would stick to the comedic formula and had read and even hoped Brad Garret (Everyone Loves Raymond) would be Herman (nice fit) and keep that comedy going. Sadly as GuanoLad states it does look more like the Addams Family in this pic. Reimagining is one thing, making it work which obviously NBC are still not sure of, is another. Maybe they are actually trying to combine both without upsetting the Charles Addams Estate.

  3. They are probably just planning to screen the pilot as a one off Halloween special to recoup some money. Makes more sense that just leaving it in the vault.

  4. I really can’t see this working. When they announced that the series would not be a comedy, I thought it was on shaky ground, but now this?

Why call it a “reimagining” when it is so fundamentally different from the original? Why not just make it a different show with new characters?
