The Skinner Boys animated series for Nine

A new kids animation, based on an original creation by Australian artist Steve Lyons, has been picked up by Nine.

A new kids animation has been picked up by Nine.

The Skinner Boys, based on an original creation by Australian artist Steve Lyons, is a 26 x 30 minute animated adventure from SLR Productions (Gasp!, Deadly).

After world explorer Augustus Skinner dies his three young teen grandsons have inherited the a mansion and its contents. But Grandfather Skinner also left them a big surprise – they are now Guardians of the Lost Secrets… a collection of unique artefacts across the world that possess incredible powers. A fourth Guardian, teenage cousin Tara may be their biggest challenge of all.

Nine has partnered with SRTL (Germany), Telegael, Top Draw Animation and Home Plate Entertainment. The series will be distributed internationally by ZDF Enterprises.

Melanie Alexander will serve as Script Producer with Jo Boag as Creative Director and Pablo de la Torre lands his first appointment as Animation Director for SLR Productions.

The series is expected to be completed by 2014.
