US performer Gary Collins, who worked as a guest actor and Miss America host, has died, aged 74.
Collins died of natural causes soon after arriving at Biloxi Regional Medical Center in Mississippi.
He began acting after serving in the military services including roles in The Wackiest Ship in the Army, Perry Mason, Iron Horse, Ironside, Hawaii Five-0, Marcus Welby MD, McCloud, Lassie, The Sixth Sense, Love American Style, The Six Million Dollar Man, Born Free, The Bionic Woman, Police Woman, Police Story, The Love Boat, Charlie’s Angels, Alice, Disneyland, Fantasy Island, Hotel, Baywatch Nights, The Young and the Restless, and Dirty Sexy Money.
From 1980 to 1988, he served as host of the TV talk show Hour Magazine, a gentler version of the genre that avoided some of the controversial topics tackled by Phil Donahue, Geraldo Rivera and others.
He was also host of the Miss America pageant in the 1980s and hosted other televised variety programmes.

I remember him being in so many things as a kid from the 70s to the early 80s. He was a very famiiar face around tht time, tht’s for sure. I have not seen him on the tv since then. RIP.
