TV legend Bert Newton has been hospitalised at Melbourne’s Epworth Hospital ahead of a quadruple bypass operation tomorrow.
Newton told the Herald Sun, “Obviously it’s not the sort of thing you would wish upon yourself, but I am philosophical.
“Because I’ve had some chest pains and I sort of fobbed them off and said you know, it’s indigestion or whatever… and I came in for a check up because I had some stents in my heart, and turns out it’s a little more serious then that.”
Newton has had two other health scares in the last 18 months.
Newton is said to be in good spirits, surrounded by family.

I wish you well Bert. You are the king in my eyes.
9news facebook page and 10news facebook page sent people into a spin today saying that in breaking news bert was rushed to hospital. hardly breaking news when he was admitted on wednesday.
Perhaps you could look at re-phrasing those last two lines…
“Newton has had two other health scares in the last 18 months.
More to come.”
Good luck to Bert, I can’t imagine TV without him.
And good God, David! You’ve outdone even yourself with that photo of him!
Good luck Bert
