Recipe To Riches mentors announced

Meet the three mentors -not judges- who will front TEN's next food series for budding home chefs.

TEN has revealed the three mentors -not judges- who will front Recipe to Riches, its new food series in which home chefs vie for the chance to have their creations sold in supermarkets.

As first revealed by TV Tonight, the FremantleMedia Australia series partners with Woolwoorths supermarkets and follows contestants as they “batch up” their dishes, create a brand for their product and devise strategies to launch it to the public.

Mentoring contestants are Carman’s Fine Foods owner Carolyn Creswell, advertising industry expert David Nobay and chef Darren Robertson.

The trio will present their recommendations to Lizzy Ryley, General Manager of Woolworths supermarkets for a final decision.

The day after each episode goes to air, the winning product will be available on shelf in Woolworths’ 890 stores.

There is no host for the show.

Carolyn Creswell
Carolyn Creswell was just 18 when she scraped together $1,000 to buy the small muesli company where she had a part-time job. Over the past 20 years, that company has grown into Carman’s Fine Foods, a thriving and inspirational business that now exports to 32 countries. The winner of the 2012 Telstra Victorian Business Woman of the Year Award as well as the 2007 Young Entrepreneur of the Year Award, Carolyn has balanced her extraordinary career with raising four young children.

David Nobay (pictured, right)
Over the past 25 years, David Nobay (better known as “Nobby”) has run award-winning creative departments from Hong Kong to the UK, San Francisco to New York, and along the way gained a reputation as one of the most respected creative minds in the advertising industry. During his time as Executive Creative Director of Saatchi & Saatchi Sydney, the company was named Australian Agency of the Decade by Campaign Brief magazine. Nobby is now Creative Chairman and Co-Founder of the rapidly-growing, award-winning communications agency Droga5, Sydney.

Darren Robertsonv (pictured, left)
English-born Darren Robertson worked at acclaimed Sydney’s restaurant Tetsuya’s for seven years, including three years as head chef, before opening his own restaurant with a group of food crazy friends. His Three Blue Ducks restaurant in Bronte has gone from strength to strength, recently winning the Best Breakfast in Sydney accolade from The Sydney Morning Herald Good Food Guide. With appearances on MasterChef Australia, Ready Steady Cook and Love To Share under his belt, it was only a matter of time before Darren’s natural warmth, charm and good looks coaxed him out of the kitchen and on to our television screens.

Lizzy Ryley (pictured, centre)
With a career spanning 25 years across multiple markets including Europe and Australasia, Lizzy Ryley has led customer strategies for a number of major retail and household brands. After topping her MBA class in 2001, Lizzy taught International Business and Marketing in the United Kingdom for a number of years. In 2007, she was awarded the Nestle Scholarship to attend the Food Executive Program at Cornell University in the US. Lizzy joined Woolworths in 2006 and led the award-winning brand strategy for the Countdown supermarket chain in New Zealand. Most recently, Lizzy relaunched Woolworths as Australia’s fresh food people, accompanied by Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday – I love you, the song that got kids singing across the nation.
