TEN News Sports Presenter Rob Canning is the latest name added to the long list of employees to be departing.

  1. What the?

I was channel surfing last night and caught the end of Late News.

There were 4 people sitting at a table and it looked like Hamish McDonald was discussing the career of Colin Hay from Men at work.

This went on for quite a while and I was thinking – why are they sacking so many professional news people and keeping this late news format which is atrocious.

Nothing against Hamish – he’s intelligent and easy on the eye – but the format is dreadful.

And still no news about George Negus or Andrew Bolt. George is paid loads and hasn’t done anything since his show was axed early this year and as for Bolt – well we all know why he is still on Ten’s payroll.

Still a bit puzzled why the low rating Project hasn’t been affected by all these sackings though.

  2. TEN are going to be left with 10 people at this rate. The network is crumbling at the seams. I guess the big question is where are all of these people going to go to? Will other networks pick them up? Its an interesting time ahead thats for sure.

  3. Ooh, they obviously don’t like Rob very much as they didn’t describe him as having …”been a key part of the TEN team”. Nor were there any “…sincere thanks for his significant contribution to the company”.

Haha, I’ve got my fingers crossed for you, Mr Knox! Shane the Hamster Wheel has finished – they would have had fun with this.

  4. Wondering why Helen Kapalos’ security pass and computer access were revoked immediately when she could have returned for a week after her holidays? Everyone else’s last work date is Nov 30th. She was removed from the Channel Ten News site immediately. Why wasn’t she given the opportunity to bid farewell to viewers?

  5. “He is a highly regarded presenter and reporter and we wish him the very best for the future.”
This line has been spouted repeatedly with no variation lately. Ten is no longer the station I’ve supported loyally as a viewer for so long.

  6. Unbelievable. Isn’t it interesting that all the good talent is leaving because they know they will gain another job and take the redundancy.

For those left (whom will be few) will quickly become tired, depressed and underpaid.

    A great Network ruined !!!!

  7. Rob is really the only young casualty at Ten Sydney. I believe Reuben Mourad could be faced with the axe when he returns from holidays – there’s not enough news broadcasts to warrant 3 weather people.

  8. “He is a highly regarded presenter and reporter, which is why we are getting rid of him, along with the others people in his calibre”
So, who is left to host the news and sports tonight? I assume Natarsha, Hamish and Matt will be busy next year filling these vacant seats.
