Farewell Bill Woods

Bill Woods has left the building with dignity, as evidenced in his final bulletin alongside Sandra Sully in Sydney.

Amongst those who exited TEN on Friday was presenter Bill Woods.

Woods had 24 years with TEN recently writing in News Limited, “TV hosts should be fairly low on the sympathy scale, so I am eternally grateful to all the very nice people who gave up some of their time to support someone so thoroughly undeserving. I won’t say I’ve never met them because I have. I’ve talked to them as honestly and thoughtfully and enthusiastically as I can about thousands of things that I hoped were interesting, important and sometimes amusing.”

He also left the building with dignity, as evidenced in his final bulletin alongside Sandra Sully in Sydney.

  1. On a side note Bill and Sandra may have unwittingly uneartherd a concept that may well save FTA TV from the jaws of internet down loads. That being live, some what unscripted television with genuine content and emotion. FTA TV will need a point of difference and more live TV may be the answer.

  2. Watch Ch10 news if we’re home from work and while it has it’s faults (hyperbole and alarmist descriptions), I like the hosts and have loved the piss taking between Billy, Suls and Brad. Have to admit to shedding a few tears.

  3. Bill and Ron are two class acts – can’t believe the extent to which Ten are letting people go. Many talented and experienced behind the scenes folk as well, it will be a much poorer (in terms of expertise) network for it.

  4. It’s such a shame that Bill Woods is going as well.

I was one of the people who actually enjoyed Thursday Night Live. I do hope that he pops up somewhere else.

  5. Very sad to see Bill leave the network. As much as I love Sandra, an hour is a long time for a single presenter.

Sad day for Sandra, losing 2 of her best friends from the newsroom.
