After six years Giaan Rooney has left Channel Nine and joined the Seven Network.
As tipped by TV Tonight, she will be a summer weather presenter for Seven News Melbourne.
But there are whispers the former Postcards presenter could become a permanent weather presenter if the summer role is successful.
“I couldn’t be more excited about coming to Seven,” she said.
“The time is right to expand my horizons. Seven has so many great shows, it covers sport so well, there are so many opportunities. And what better way to start than the all-important weather reports during the festive season.”
Managing Director of Seven Melbourne, Lewis Martin, said: “We’re thrilled to have Giaan on-board. She’s a natural in front of the camera, she’s versatile and warm and incredibly popular with viewers.”
She will also be a part of Seven’s broadcast team for the 2013 Australian Open while rumours persist about potential involvement in Celebrity Splash.
She begins on air on Sunday December 23.

I do not like her in the role.
Giaan is pretty … hope she gets a bigger role soon
She’s not a bad presenter, but it certainly helps (her) that she’s easy on the eye.
Just on a side note, also read in the Sunday Telegraph today that Ray Warren has signed a new contract with Nine for another 5 years
