The Killing (US) to be revived in third season

The US adaptation of The Killing is set to have a third season after all, despite being axed in July.

The US adaptation of The Killing is set to have a third season after all, despite being axed by AMC.

Despite being axed in July, Variety now reports showrunner Veena Sud and executive producers Dawn Prestwich and Nicole Yorkin have begun work on a third season.

After a series premiere that generated strong ratings, numbers began to fall and there was an uproar from many viewers after the first-season finale failed to solve the show’s central murder mystery.

The new season, presumably with Mireille Enos and Joel Kinnaman returning as Seattle cops, is now expected to launch in the US in May, with production set to begin in a few months.

AMC is understood to have been swayed in part by the prospect of a partner coming in to help with the cost of licensing.

The show aired in Australia on ONE and was based on the Danish original of the same name.

  1. It was not bad TV but an utterly pointless remake. Why bother when the original was and is so good – watching series 3 of the Danish original at the moment and it’s just as good as series 1.
