Another departs TEN’s creative development unit

Andrew Garrick, the first person tapped to join TEN's ambitious in-house development unit, has left the building.

Ten LogoAnother member of TEN’s dwindling Creative Development Unit has left the building.

Andrew Garrick, the first person tapped by David Mott to join the new venture, departed TEN in late December after 4 years.

The Creative Development Unit has been one of James Warburton’s projects to develop more in-house productions, headed up by Lisa Fitzpatrick as Director of Development.

But after recent network redundancies, and the exit of audience researcher David Castran, it is now a shadow of its former self.

Garrick, who created Micro Nation for TEN and Some Say Love for Foxtel, told TV Tonight, “It’s a bit of a simple story – just decided it was time for a change of scenery. I left of my own choice, with the rather kind and full support of Beverley(McGarvey) & Lisa. I’m headed off to work as a freelance director on scripted and comedy projects.”

None of the shows TEN announced for its 2013 Upfront were developed by the CDU.

In November a TEN spokesperson said, “The creative development unit is working on a range of projects for 2013 and beyond. None of those projects have been announced publicly yet, but they will be.”
