Toni Collette in CBS pilot, Hostages.

Toni Collette has been cast in the lead role of new CBS pilot, Hostages, from Jerry Bruckheimer.

Based on an Israeli format (Homeland anyone?), Hostages revolves around a family caught in the middle of a grand political conspiracy that will change their lives forever.

Collette will play Ellen, a mother and a successful Washington, D.C. surgeon who has chosen to operate on the US President. After her family is taken hostage, it’s up to her to save her husband and children.

The US pilot will be written, directed and executive produced Jeffrey Nachmanoff (Traitor).

If it proceeds to a series, it will be Collette’s first series role since United States of Tara.
