Patricia Lovell, best known as 'Miss Pat' on Mr. Squiggle, has died, aged 83.

2013-01-27_2346Patricia Lovell, best known as ‘Miss Pat’ on Mr. Squiggle, has died, aged 83.

She died on Saturday from liver cancer with her children by her side.

Lovell hosted the iconic ABC children’s show from 1960-1975, beloved by audiences, before later appearing on the original TV version of Beauty and the Beast.

She was also the anchorwoman for the early morning Sydney Today Show in 1969.

But Lovell later became a gifted movie producer, with the classic films Gallipoli and Picnic at Hanging Rock plus Break of Day and Monkey Grip.

From 1996 to 2003 she worked as Head of Producing at the Australian Film, Television and Radio School.

Lovell was awarded an MBE and Order of Australia and also received the Raymond Longford Award from the Australian Film Institute in 2004.
