2013-02-08_1104BBC horror-drama Being Human is set to fold.

Season five of the tale about a ghost, a werewolf and vampire, will be the show’s last, reaching an ‘apocalyptic’ ending when the three will take on the devil.

The show began in 2008 but original cast Aiden Turner (Vampire), Russell Tovey (Werewolf) and Lenora Crichlow (Ghost) have all since departed.

Executive Producer Rob Pursey said, “From the first one-hour pilot, all the way through to this climactic series, we’ve been given real creative freedom and encouragement.

“It’s a credit to BBC Three that such an unusual idea has been allowed to flourish and evolve in its own unique way”.

The show is one of BBC Three’s most successful programmes and spawned a US spin-off which is currently airing its third season on Syfy.

The UK original aired in Australia on the ABC.

  1. A shame it’s a decision not based on the show itself but on the BBC budget. BBC3 was slashed to just one drama series this year and Being Human got it (though reduced to 6 episodes), so it isn’t a surprise that it’s the final series, which is a real shame.

Most fans agree the new lead trio actually worked better than the originals had towards the end – and IMO both Hal and Tom are far more interesting characters than George and Mitchell, while Annie became a much better character alongside them than in earlier series.

  2. I’ve only seen up to the first episode of season 4. Was surprised then that pretty much all the original characters had gone.

Now I’m not surprised its not going on much longer. At its peak it was a great show to watch.
