Ex-Summer Bay stars move to Erinsborough

Exclusive: Two former Home and Away stars are moving into the Neighbours-hood.

2013-02-07_2201EXCLUSIVE: Two former Home and Away stars, Rebekah Elmaloglou and Kip Gamblin, are moving into the Neighbours-hood.

They will play husband and wife Brad and Terese Willis, parents to a teenage son and daughter.

For Rebekah Elmaloglou, 39, the role will be something of a TV comeback -she played soapie favourite Sophie Simpson in Summer Bay from 1989 to 1993 and on a recurring basis from 2002 to 2005. Gamblin, who played Scott Hunter for nearly three years, was recently seen in Tricky Business and Dance Academy.

The Willis family will be the second new family to join Ramsay Street this year, following the introduction of the Turner family last night with Kate Kendall, Josef Brown,Taylor Glockner, Jenna Rosenow and Calen MacKenzie.

Executive Producer Richard Jasek said, “We are moving our focus back to family units on Ramsay Street and the dynamics this offers in terms of storylines is fantastic.

“As viewers will find out shortly, the Turners are a family of secrets, and the unique backstory of the Willis family is just as compelling.”

Filming for the new family begins from February 18 and will debut on-air early June.

  1. I’m kind of disappointed that Brad and Beth are no longer together, I really liked them back in the day. Since Brad is a recast anyway, as is Lauren, I wish they had of just made Rebekah’s character Beth. Especially considering the history between the three characters.

Still, I’m looking forward to Rebekah and Kip’s return to the screen, I’ll definitely tune in.

  2. Why couldn’t they make new characters? Brad Willis is meant to be Scott Michaelson. Last I remember of him was that he was managing Holly balance or something similar?

  3. Turns out this character is not the returning regular character Brad Willis that a fling with Lauren Carpenter. Very strange that they would use the same name for a ‘new’ character, especially since Lauren has just been recast.

  4. I am loving what Richard Jasek, is doing with Neighbours, mining the shows history. It is very rewarding for long time fans. This week we’ve had Sarah and Lauren, next week Angie, now Brad. I always thought they should have bought Annie Jones (Jane) back with a family of her own, maybe paired with another former chararacter like Clive Gibbons. Although would have liked to see Scott Michealson back, Kip gamblin will be great as Brad. Not sure about Rebecca, been watching her in H&A re-runs and find her speech annoying.

  5. Nice to see Rebekah Elmaloglou back on TV again.

(Btw David – not to be a word nazi, but you don’t actually mention Kip Gamblin’s first name in the article.)

  6. I was wondering the same thing, if it was the same Willis’s that were originally in it years ago. If I remember correctly, Lou’s daughter Lauren had a thing with Brad back then. If that’s the case it could be very interesting.

  7. Brad Willis is actually a recast, returning character from the early 90s, last played by Scott Michaelson. He had married Beth, played by Natalie Imbruglia.

  8. Assuming this is a recast of the original Brad Willis, it will be interesting to see how Brad ended up with Terese, and what happened to Beth (Natalie Imbruglia) as they got married prior to the characters leaving the show in 1993. And will the children be step kids to Terese or hers and Brads.

Although highly implausible that people would move back into the same street they lived in almost 20 years ago as a teenager, especially two in one year, I hope this means we may get the occasional visit from Doug and Pam Willis, and maybe even Gaby who is still running the Darwin Lassiters Hotel.

There will most likely also be expected tension as Brad Willis and Lauren Carpenter as they used to date at one point when Brad and Beth were separated.

  9. Great news for Neighbours! Both Rebekah and Kip are good actors, so I can’t wait to see them arrive on-screen. David, do you know if Kip is portraying the original Brad Willis or is this a new character?
