One is Puberty Blues and the other is Josh Thomas’ Please Like Me, which premieres on ABC2 next week.

Series Mania is in its fourth year in France, premiering new TV series from around the world to industry and public. Both  The Slap and East West 101 were selected in previous years.

Josh Thomas and Please Like Me producer Todd Abbott will fly to Paris in April to introduce the screenings and take part in Q&A sessions, after gigs at the Melbourne International Comedy Festival and the Adelaide Fringe Festival.

“I’m just so pleased to get the approval of the French. I generally agree with everything the French approve of, like croissants and croissants filled with almond paste and cheeses and baguettes. And also French boys speaking French,” said Thomas.

Please Like Me premieres with a double episode next Thursday 28 February at 9:30pm on ABC2.

Puberty Blues, which also won Best Television Drama Series at the AACTA Awards, has a second season coming to TEN later this year.

  1. Josh Thomas always needs translation as far as I’m concerned, I can barely understand a word he says – which is probably why he’s been shunted to ABC2, he needs subtitles.

Why he ever adopted that ridiculous way of speaking is a complete mystery to me, along with his “aren’t I a silly sausage” demeanour.
