9 Comments:

  1. When comparing Dramas on a busy night like Sunday with reality TV, news, sport or infotainment you have to allow for the fact that the drama will pick up an extra 200-300k viewers due to people watching repeats or recordings within 7 days.

Decisions in a particular time-slot are relative preferences. There could be people who watched Border Security/Force while waiting for something at 8:30pm. They may have preferred to watch The Mentalist but that was not an option at 7:30pm. All they have to choose from is Border Security/The Force, 60 Minutes, Grand Designs etc.

Also the lead-in and follow-on to a show can boost its numbers. And if people have nothing that particularly want to watch between show may just leave the TV on while surfing. And people would have watched the end of The Force for 6 minutes waiting for the late starting Downton Abbey to commence.

  2. It’s difficult to know what to watch on Sunday night. Ended up watching Midsomer Murders and recording Downton Abbey, just because I can FF through the ads. Also watched MTP and recorded Modern Family so I could watch the Crows games on Fox Footy. I should get a life I think.

  3. how the hell does the force and border security get above millions in ratings which by the way its all stupid but yet great programming get decent ratings but fall behind its weird

  4. Channel 10 will be fairly happy with a 14.8% share and 19.8% for the Network, which is about as well as they have done in the past.

MCP and Elementary lost some viewers 16-39, and some older viewers but kept most of their viewers 18-54. 600k viewers in those demographics is pretty good.

MCP will also have extra +7 numbers when people are watching MKR. It is being recorded and there are day time and Friday night repeats.

Channel 9’s stunt with 90 minutes got them a couple of hundred thousand extra viewers. But 300k didn’t hang a round for the last 30 minutes and 400k didn’t hang around for The Mentalist at 9:05pm.

Next week the Mentalist and CSI will probably struggle. They look like the 4th most popular shows that will find it difficult to even get a recording spot on the HDRs.

  5. bettestreep2008

Hierohero – this is what I find really sad.

Crap like Block, MKR and the Border shows are rating through the roof but well made shows like MCP and even MF are struggling.

I dread to think what Mr and Mrs Murder and the Good wife will rate with MKR outrating Glee 6 to 1!

  6. @ bettestreep2008

I don’t think Ten fizzled at all. The numbers they got last night are far better than Homeland or Touch could achieve last year. If you want to see a fizzer, have a look at the numbers for The Mentalist and CSI last night.

  7. Ten can’t seem to take a trick lately.

Their super sunday fizzled big time and MCP is now officially a dud.

It was easily beaten by Block and Seven’s border rubbish and it will be massacred by MKR tonight and Wednesday night.

I watched it – and enjoyed it – but it is just not rating the wayit should be.

VIewers prefer rubbish and MCP is definitely not rubbish.
