20 Comments:

  1. Ratings start this Sunday so TEN will have competition. Downton Abbey on 7 will take a few ratings off TEN but with new modern family, masterchef professionals & Elementary TEN should have a good Sunday night.

  2. Yes interesting to see what Channel 9 put on Sunday nights. The Mentalist has moved to Thursdays.

    I guess they will try to get House Husbands on as soon as possible.

    They have The Following and Arrow which they haven’t yet scheduled, but I don’t think either of them would launch well on Sunday night after the cricket.

  3. Yes is a good start for Elementary.

    But most shows drop around 20% after a heavily promoted premiere, some people don’t like it and some people switch to recording it.

    Masterchef Professionals did well against The Force and Border Security. So if Masterchef Professionals and Elementary form a block that young viewer watch live, Ten may do OK on Sundays.

    New Girl and Homeland S1 worked like that for them at the start of 2012, but they weren’t up against Downton Abbey though.

  4. I agree with David Knox – it is still non ratings and nothing was really thrown at Elementary last night. Like all Ten shows, it will settle around 700-800K once it has genuine competition. Midsomer Murders on ABC and Downtown Abbey on Seven are pitched at the same audience – but expect DA to trounce MM. The key is what Nine is going to throw up against the other shows.

  5. @Secret Squirrel
    I am just being hopeful after last nights ratings which were unbelievable for TEN will be able to continue
    @Andy G
    I am not even going to comment because I have a lot of faith in them and I will continue to do so

  6. the real question is whether Ten can sustain those figures. They haven’t had a lot of luck with their Sunday dramas in the past (Homeland being the exception) and next week they’ll be up against Downton Abbey on Seven. But they do have the benefit of a strong lineup of shows through the night.

  7. MC:TP went up against the cricket and it manages to get over 1mil and Elementary is going up against DA and cricket which I suspect it will get over 1mil or just under 1mil which is a excellent effort from Ten as their promotions paid off

  8. MC:TP had to go up against the cricket and it managed to get over 1mil. Downton Abbey is going up against Elementary and cricket which I will suspect that it will crack 1mil or just off 1mil which is a good effort.

  9. I’m glad to see Elementary rated well. To me, it’s a cross between House and CSI with a little Dr Who (boisterous enthusiasm) thrown in for good measure; that means I think it’s good for 4 seasons. Good to see Liu in a role of substance.

  10. TEN is going to have a great night next Sunday as you can see from their ratings. Obviously TENs gamble is paying off and they are going to get an even bigger share next Sunday
