2013-02-18_1619WIN Television has cut jobs in the south-east and Riverland of South Australia.

A News bulletin produced at Nine in Adelaide has been axed.

ABC reports staff received letters today telling them their positions were redundant, effective immediately, as part of a cost-cutting measure.

Media Entertainment and Arts Alliance secretary, Angelique Ivanica, said she understood 10 editorial positions had been cut.

“We’re used to seeing a reduction in staff or some changes here or there or, in print for example a reduction in hours more recently in the last year, but when you actually have complete closure that leaves a massive gap, not only for the local residents in terms of local news coverage but also where are the staff going to go,” she said.

WIN will reportedly look for alternative positions for staff willing to consider relocating.

  1. Jason, WIN has owned SES/RTS for about 14 years! I hardly think they were itching to axe local news there. Yet, if they were owned by Southern Cross Austereo or Prime Media, it would’ve been cut years ago.

WIN should be given credit for lasting this long.
