The Chaser team are set to return to the ABC later in the year for another snarky look at the Federal Election.

“I can’t believe we’re doing our fifth Federal Election,” Julian Morrow told TV Tonight.

“We think of it as core business for The Chaser. We’re all back on deck to do it again.

“It won’t be called Yes We Canberra. At the moment, in all likelihood, it will be called The Election Hamster, so we can retain The Hamster Wheel set and trappings and just focus on the election for 5 weeks.”

But first Morrow and Craig Reucassel will tackle consumer affairs in the upcoming series The Checkout.

In the meantime Morrow hopes there aren’t any big changes to the political landscape.

“We’re certainly working assiduously to retain Julia Gillard as Prime Minister and I think we’re some of the few people who are actually doing that. We’re not doing it for the quality of her Prime Ministership or her record, but because it makes our life easier if she doesn’t get rolled,” he said.

“It would be a bit of a problem actually, if there was an early election because it would make a scheduling difficulty in terms of finishing The Check-Out and doing the election show.”
