Dexter to end with season 8

A CBS official lets the dark passenger out of the bag.

dexters7art1_FULLThe next season of Dexter will be the last for Showtime.

Les Moonves, who is CEO of Showtime’s sister network CBS, told analysts at a Wall Street conference, “We have Ray Donovan coming on with Liev Schreiber, which comes on with Dexter‘s last season starting in June and then we have Masters of Sex.”

However a Showtime spokesperson for the network told The Hollywood Reporter that there was “nothing confirmed” about if the series could and would continue beyond season eight.

It’s now game on to see what fate awaits Dexter with his sister Deb (Jennifer Carpenter) already privy to his dark secrets.

This year the show also premieres much earlier than past seasons and will be fast-tracked by Foxtel on Showcase.

  1. Being a major Dexter fan, I do hope that they wrap it up on Season 8. It has to come to a close someday and they’re running out of people that Dexter needs to avoid or cover-up.

Though, if you still need your Dexter fix – read the books. They are magnificent and steer away from the TV series.

  2. Showtime would have Dexter go on for a dozen seasons, but since Michael Hall has been getting a million for each episode of the last 2 seasons, it’s become too expensive to make.

  3. I was ‘silently’ hoping Showtime would continue, but fully understand why Dexter need’s to finish at the end of S8. Season 7 was brilliant, so let’s hope the final season is as good, if not better.

With Dexter and no more Damages, Ray Donavon will have to be something very special.
