  1. @danny.
OK call it a serial drama about the relationships within a family then.

It’s not an episodic show like the Castle or Bones where you can just watch any episode. I would be totally lost trying to watch an episode of Parenthood now, having not seen any since the 2nd episode.

  2. @ Pertinax, “People are unlikely to jump into a soap like Parenthood”.

Seriously? You class “Parenthood” as a soap? I don’t know if you and I are watching the same program.

@ Jel, yes, there’s only two more first-run episodes left. Smash is doing terribly in the ratings and is being shunted to Saturdays. Season 2 only has 13 episodes, not 22. One episode requires at least 12 days of principal photography.

  3. Yeah, it’s strange how they do their programming. They are still showing Revenge, but take Rafters off. Reading the US recaps of Downton Abbey, it was a double ep over there, but we only got a single one. Most annoying, as I was reading it, I kept thinking, I don’t remember that, how did I miss that. Then realised it must have been a double over there. I thought I was going mad or had fallen asleep and missed bits. At least the digital channels don’t take a break so we will still get Amazing Race & Survivor.

  4. Patenthood has only two eps to go I think; from what I’ve heard from the US; it only got a 15 episode order for the fourth season, because they gave the 22 eps to Smash which tanked. Last night’s ep would have been episode 13. So that means two more to go and if they show a double on April 7 then hopefully Grey’s can come back in it’s place after that.

  5. What I don’t get is why did they air rafters last night instead of next week, knocked up should have been on last night, it is a waste of the MKR leadin.

Surely it makes more sense to load the 2nd week of Easter leading into the 2nd quarter of the year instead of spreading out the content and having 2 half baked weeks.

  6. A lot of people going away for the Easter weekend will be back on their couches Monday night. Seven want to get momentum for MKR and Revenge to keep pressure on TBL, The Voice and Channel 9’s after Easter lineup. Last year Revenge lost 400k live viewers because of its Easter Break and the start of The Voice.

People are unlikely to jump into a soap like Parenthood in the middle of the 4th season just because it on an hour earlier at Easter. So why mess with a winning formula. Knocked up will probably do OK against repeats and Seven have the rights to use up sometime.

The question is why they spelled Rafter next week. Presumably they have to spell it one week to keep the episodes they want for ratings and figure it will have no trouble bouncing back the following week.

  7. @ lulu

Just two episodes left in the previous season before we get to the current season – I assume it will continue as it has been rating really well for Seven.

Interesting with Parenthood, they are happy to show episodes that finish close to midnight in ratings but don’t bother showing it during a non ratings week when it could air at 8.30 and draw in a larger audience.

  8. Seems strange that 7’s bringing back MKR during the non-rating period – unless they think TBL might be on a roll for TEN.

    David, any clues…?

  9. Not sure why 7 need to rest Rafters! Unles they deem the next to be really worthy and want higher ratings?
This makes me question if we will get the rest of the season and the shorter 6th one consecutively??!

  10. Interestingly, according to TV Week; BH&G on Fri 5/4; is playing (in Melb) 7-7.30pm on Seven, and contuining 7.30-8.30 on 7Two; With AFL from 7.30 on Seven. Seems like a risky programming decision for the BH&G brand…
