“Wait and see” as Livinia Nixon farewells Nine

Weather girl Livinia Nixon leaves Nine to have her second baby, but without a set return date.

photoliv2Nine News Melbourne weather girl Livinia Nixon has her final broadcast next Friday but viewers could be waiting for some time before she returns.

Today she was joined by the Nine News team at a farewell ahead of her second baby due in mid April.

Nixon has been with Nine News for 10 years but is leaving for now with no clear future on a return.

“It’s a strange feeling to be leaving, temporarily, an organisation that you love and people you enjoy working with and really respect and have a great laugh with very day of the week,” she told TV Tonight.

“It’s hard to leave that.”

For her first child she had 6 months maternity leave from Nine News, but returned 3 months earlier for the Hey Hey it’s Saturday reunions.

This time she has no formal plans on a return, this year or next.

“I really can’t give you an answer, unfortunately, and I haven’t been able to tell work either because I just want to see what it’s like having two children if I throw work back into the mix as well. I don’t know what it’s going to be like, so we’ll just have to wait and see.”

photolivIn her place will be Rebecca Judd, who has previously had roles with both Nine News and Seven News in Perth.

“The weather is in good hands with Rebecca. She’s had years of experience over in Perth reading the weather. You will get your weather delivered at 6:28 in an impeccable manner. Do not worry!”

With a baby due in mid April she will also miss her for Logies in years. But while one eye is on the big awards night, attention is focussed on her baby – she still doesn’t know the gender of the child.

“We’re one of those rare couples that actually doesn’t find out.”

  1. I want to know what the weather is gonna be and I don’t give a stuff who presents it, as long as it is accurate. I mean these girls are not exactly meteorologists are they?

  2. Luckily Eddie is not still boss, otherwise he could take his infamous Jess Rowe comment to its ultimate conclusion, especially if Livinia does not return by choice or otherwise after having her Bub, Eddie could claim she has been “De-boned”

  3. Ry, Livinia would have to be the most ‘under the radar’ person for a breakfast show… never considered her until your comment… She would be fantastic!!

But with the kiddies, its unlikely for the next few years.

  4. Ch 9 must really like the Loverly Livinia judging by the small fortune of sweets from Burch & Purchese shown in the photo.
Or perhaps its a cunning plot by Livinia to fatten up Ms Judd so she could get the weather gig back if she wanted too. 😉

  5. Rebecca Judd has had years of experience…hardly. She had a short stint at Seven Perth as weekend weather presenter which was quickly scrapped. Not sure what she has done with Nine Perth, but the only weather presenters I can recall are Todd Johnson, Natalia Cooper, Angela Tsun, Candace Barnes and Lee Steele.

  6. I think we all agree on Livinia Nixon being a wonderful TV talent and this was shown with her ‘Hey Hey’ stints. She could be a greater asset to Nine doing more than a 90 second weather report!

David, do you think Adam Boland will be keen to have a chat with Livinia??
