ABC1’s Gruen Sweat has been nominated for a Rose d’Or award, one of Europe’s more prestigious television awards.
Gruen has been nominated in the Entertainment category alongside The Dino Show from the Netherlands and Let’s Dance for Sport Relief from the UK. It is the only Australian show nominated this year.
Nominees come from as far afield as USA, Spain, Germany, Austria, Belgium, and the Netherlands. The UK leads the field with 10 nominations including 2012, the Olympics comedy accused of ripping off The Games from Australia.
Annika Nyberg Frankenhaeuser, Eurovision Media Director said: “The quality and number of entries received in 2013 is exceptional and the judges have chosen top-quality nominees. The Rose d’Or are the awards that programme-makers covet the most because they symbolize the pinnacle of success for entertainment programming.”
Previous Australian nominees at Rose D’or include John Safran’s Race Relations, The Last Confession of Alexander Pearce, The Librarians, The Chaser’s War on Everything, and actress Jacki Woodburne, while wins went to The Eternity Man and Go Back to Where You Came.
