2013-04-03_1213Tristan Barker, branded by media as an ‘Internet troll,’ has pleaded guilty in a New Zealand court to assaulting Today Tonight reporter David Eccleston.

Barker, 18, was charged with assaulting Eccleston following an interview in Rotorua in the first week of March.

TV3 reports Eccleston received medical treatment in Sydney after the altercation. He was not present in court today, despite returning to New Zealand for Barker’s previous court appearances.

A member of Barker’s’ Facebeef’ group later trick Today Tonight into interviewing one of his followers, telling the show she had been a victim of his cyber bullying.

Barker has been remanded on bail until his sentencing on June 19.
