Nine’s credit card cut is the deepest

Karl Stefanovic, Lisa Wilkinson and Richard Wilkins, are amongst those Nine stars who have been asked to surrender company credit cards.

2013-04-12_0223Nine stars and production staff have been asked to surrender company credit cards, which have been available to them for travel, accommodation and food expenses.

News Limited reports Karl Stefanovic, Lisa Wilkinson and Richard Wilkins, are amongst those who received an email citing budget cuts.

“They’re just for things like incidentals that are not covered when travelling. Things outside of airfares and accommodation,” a source said. “There may have been the odd staffer who used them inappropriately but by and large they weren’t abused.”

It’s understood staff affected will now revert to the standard “pay and claim” method which is standard procedure at Channel TEN.

Corporate plastic is still issued to some high-ranking executives and “on the road” staff at Channel Seven. A ‘wardrobe allowance’ is provided for on-air talent at all three commercial networks.

Some stars are understood to have them as part of their negotiated contracts.

The cuts follow a recent announcement about voluntary redundancies, in the wake of Nine’s rescue by two US hedge funds.

  1. Gee whiz, can Karl afford to lose one of his few credits that had real value?, maybe his mate Tony will stump up some extra creds in exchange for even softer interviews as the E day draws nearer?

  2. I don’t think they’d be happy. They would need to keep all their receipts and make a claim back. It would be a pain, and take some getting used to.

  3. Why don’t they just get a debit card with X amount of value and once you’ve used that you don’t get anymore until the next week or month? Or here’s an idea just add an expenses budget to their usual wage and they can use their own plastic?
