The Biggest Loser is living up to its title as viewers swarm to The Voice (2.06m) and My Kitchen Rules (1.54m).
While Nine and Seven’s shows both went up, TEN took a tumble -down to 472,000. Ironically both The Voice and Biggest Loser are produced by the same company, Shine Australia.
Nine network won the night with a share of 35.5% then Seven 30.3%, ABC 16.9%, TEN 13.2% and SBS 4.0%.
The Voice was 2.06m for Nine then Nine News (1.38m), ACA (1.18m), House Husbands (1.03m), Hot Seat (728,000), Person of Interest (438,000). Footy Classified was 166,000 in 3 states. Nine indicates its numbers weren’t affected by an EPG error in Melbourne.
My Kitchen Rules lifted to 1.54m for Seven then Seven News (1.32m), Today Tonight (1.06m), Revenge (1.01m), Home and Away (986,000), Deal or No Deal (555,000), and Grey’s Anatomy (489,000 / 326,000).
ABC News (867,000) led for ABC1 followed by Australian Story (711,000), 7:30 (664,00), Four Corners (637,000), Media Watch (616,000), Â Q & A (597,000). Grand Designs was 405,000 and Lateline was 255,000.
TEN’s results need some explaining due to the overrun of Adam Scott’s US Masters win.
TENÂ News pipped 701,000 for TEN but next was a repeat of The Bold and the Beautiful (582,000) which was actually the golf. The Project was 541,000 followed by Everyday Gourmet with Justine Schofield (533,000) which was more golf. The Biggest Loser struggled at 472,000 followed by the afternoon episode of The Bold and the Beautiful (415,000) which comes in ahead of The Simpsons (409,000), a James Mathison-hosted episode of Can of Worms (334,000) and Hawaii Five-0 at just 257,000.
On SBS ONE it was The Truth about Exercise (242,000), Mythbusters (163,000), World News Australia (163,000) and Mad Men (105,000).
Sunrise: 316,000
Today: 294,000
ABC News Breakfast: Â 40,000 / 28,000

Now in it’s 8th season, maybe it has just run it’s course. It will be interesting to see how My Kitchen Rules and The Voice will rate by season 8. It’s just so many episodes of same same on these formulated reality shows that go on forever each year, so people do finally grow weary of them and after a certain time search for something new
TBL jumped the shark when they tried to make it a dating show hybrid last season, now having 15 year old kids humiliate themselves and plot and scheme on TV, not great at all.
Now surely TBL will get renewed as it does excellent on Sunday nights and I think around 500,000 or above will be a ratings hit for TEN and I am glad it pulling consistent ratings but for the finale it will pull greater than what it is already pulling

The Biggest Loser is being crushed in the ratings at the moment? Good, it is a terrible show, hope this is the final nail in the coffin for it.
Well I love The Biggest Loser and I’ll continue to watch it because it is better than The Voice and MKR.
The radio stations did the same with mkr before the voice was on
ch10 continue to be in a bad place with little hope of a revival in the near future. They have the occasional little win, like the golf, but are plagued with poor decision makers who lack foresight, there should have been some contingency to continue with the golf without the stuff up that occurred. OK they got it right “eventually”….
You have to hope that MC rescues part of their year once again, if that doesn’t fire, they will be well and truly stuffed…
Dave, do you think Nine can win the week if The Voice isn’t on tomorrow night? Last week Nine just won by .01% or whatever when Voice was on Wednesday. MKR will gobble up Big Bang tomorrow night and Seven will win the week.
Poor Channel Ten, nothing seems to be working for them since Channel Nine adopted their strategy of stripping reality competition shows across the 7pm weeknight slot. I do think if Biggest Loser wasn’t in that slot though their performance would be even worse.
Re BL – Good to hear. It’s a stupid and dangerous show.
On another tack – I wonder if Mediawatch should take a look at issues of contra in commercial radio. I’ve had the misfortune to be exposed to morning FM radio lately and the DJs seem to bang on endlessly about The Voice, including interviews with contestants and hosts etc. So much so, that it suggests they have a commercial arrangement with Ch9.
Are they not supposed to declare such interests (Lawsy-style)?
