  1. @JennyW, Agree. Kate & Mark are perfect togther. Kate & Mark are a very popular couple. Everyone wants Kate & Mark together. Scott McGregor’s return is definitely helping the ratings. The Neighbours twitter account tweeted: Would we like to see Scott McGregor back permanently. So hopefully they are hinting that he will be permanent.

  2. Bruce Banner

@ghghgh20_211 why can’t it? It could if Channel 10 put another “Aussie show” on instead of Neighbours, unless the contract with CBS specifically mentioned Neighbours being that Aussie show for all time.

If Neighbours starts getting 500-600k viewers (pretty unrealistic but who knows), I’m sure Channel 10 would start looking for ways to make it happen.

  3. I would imagine that once analogue is gone everywhere at the end of the year and the general populace become more accustomed to the other channels. We will see some shows like Neighbours getting higher ratings, because honestly all people need to do is click 11 on the remote and they’re there.

After that it will be just a matter of selling the advertisers on the higher figures and what the demographics are; then what channel something is on will be negligible.

  4. ghghgh20_211

    OMG!!

David can you do an article and silence these people once and for all and tell them why Neighbours cannot move back to channel 10!!

I mean, you’ve told us the reason like 1,000,000 times but i guess people think channel 10 has a say in it.

Neighbours is on Eleven because of the deal it made with CBS in America. CBS said ”we’ll give you our content and money for your channel 11 but you need to put an aussie show that will attract people to come over and watch the channel” and channel 10 chose Neighbours.

So no! Neighbours cannot come back to 10 anytime soon

  5. I liked The Americans as well, granted I put it on the PVR then watched it delayed by about 30 mins, though I think I finished watching with-in minutes of it ending on TEN anyway (skipping ads I think is needed for a 90 minute show).

Glad it will be on at 9:30pm next week, that timeslot should suit it better (well for others at least, nothing else I usually watch on Monday nights anyway).

  6. Secret Squirrel

I wouldn’t call 487k a disaster for a show on 10 that finished at 10. I expect that it will pick up another 120k in the +7’s. It won’t be moving to One.

It wasn’t bad altho’ I think we all knew that he was going to end up killing their captive to defend his wife’s honour. Music was good, too. Hopefully the series will end before we get to 1982.

  7. Ten, get those encore screenings of The Americans in the schedule, now!

Surprised Mad Men doesn’t draw more than 46,000 viewers in either of its two screenings on a Monday

  8. bettestreep2008

The Americans will probably be moved to 9.30pm or shifted to One next week. Those figures were a disaster.

And I agree with other posters that it is time Ten admitted it’s mistake and put Neighbours back on the main channel. They can shift Simpsons repeats to Eleven and still continue to claim it is a teen/kids channel.

Imagine Neighbours rating 600-700k on the main channel. It’d be a great lead in for The Project and MCA next week – and they might even come third for a change.

    • The Americans was 90 minutes, so it was never going to set the world on fire. It was already scheduled for 9:30 next week following The Truth Is. But I like what I have seen and will keep watching.

  9. Wow! 405k for Neighbours!! Yes, their best result since 2011 when Mark Brennan was still on the show. He should become a regular again. Mark and Kate are great together and his return is helping the ratings.

  10. Poor numbers for The Americans, but I guess it didn’t really have a chance considering The Voice finished at 9.55 last night.

Agree with PJs Ronin, really enjoyed what I saw last night. The music on the show was awesome, as was the acting.

Hopefully timeshifted numbers will be kind to it..

  11. Shame about The Americans figures, such an excellent show. Please stick with it Ten. Revenge has gotten too silly for me to continue watching.

  12. I saw The Americans in its entirety when l was recently in America. All I can say is watch it! It’s brilliant. For such a great show, those numbers last night are woeful.

  13. I only saw a little of The Americans but the acting looked better than average and any show that includes music by Genesis has my attention. Will give it another shot.

  14. Is that one of the biggest numbers that Neighbours has received since airing on Eleven? I feel like there has been a definite trend upwards in the ratings for Neighbours over the last month or so??
