  1. I wouldn’t be surprised if seven will end up winning night on time shifted based on numbers for other weeks – I think it was two weeks ago crimminal minds had a 150000 increase on time shifted and would imagine Hannibal would be the same considering its later hour + it’s not the best thing to watch prior to a good nights sleep

It may taken Nine some time but they found a good timeslot for Arrow and a good lead with TBBT.

Given that Arrow is a comic book show from CW with 3m viewers I expected it fate to me more like The Following, getting shuffled around. But it is beating Criminal Minds which has delivered consistent ratings and shouldn’t be too troubled by Offspring which is popular with females.

CBS shows like The Mentalist, Person of Interest, TBBT, Two and a Half Men and 2 Broke Girls are produced and distributed by Warner Bros.

Nine has a 5 year $500m output deal covering all WB shows including repeats. This explains a large part of 9, Go! and Gem’s programming.

International TV show are sold at MIPCOM. Operating in a small market with 3 commercial broadcasters Australian TV networks were heavily reliant on US shows. Rather than bid against each other at MIPCOM they established output deals with US producers to guarantee themselves enough content at fixed prices.

  4. @vitieddie Arrow didn’t have The Voice last week either and did good figures as well. I have a feeling the combination of Big Bang Theory and Arrow is what is working, because Arrow is a Superhero/Vigilante show, which should appeal to a few BBT watchers.

Will be interesting next Wednesday when it is The Block: Skyhigh, Big Bang Theory (new ep) and Arrow, whether people come it at 8pm for BBT and continue on if they aren’t a Block watcher.

  5. I’m a bit over channel 9 scheduling in big chunks of TBBT.

I know it rates well, I know it has a massive following, so obviously, why not show it… but it still feels lazy.

  6. Is the Win alluded to in the headline based on multi channels? Because in the meat of the story, you list Home & Away at 1m, but ABC News at just 970k.

Is it due to the fact that Home & Away normally runs late (7:02 to 7:32), whereas the ABC News is always a 7pm start??

  7. Arrow did very well (even without the Voice).

David, do you know how certain shows are bought by the networks? For e.g. most CBS shows seem to go to Nine but then Elementary went to TEN.

  8. Doubt we will see another series of Tractor Monkeys or Elegant Gentleman’s Guide. Both have under performed.

New episodes of QI from next Wednesday plus Adam Hills will double ABC audience numbers.
